I am not a millennial. I have invested, coached and encouraged millennials most of my adult life. Not only do I see the potential in millennials, I realize the importance of this generation being unleashed to change the world. I believe the next 5 years will determine the long term future impact of the millennials. I believe that all ages must wake up and begin to intentionally equip, train, unleash, and give opportunities to the millennials before it is too late. Yes it will take work. It will take humility, determination and sacrifice, but here is why I think millennials can change the world.
- The millennials, born between 1984-2004, are the most educated generation that has ever existed
- The millennials are the most connected generation that has ever lived
- The millennials are the most mobile and open to varied experiences and cultures
- The millennials know that there is something bigger than them
- The millennials have the potential to do more in less time than any generation before them
- The millennials have an ingrained heart of compassion and generosity
- At the core millennials don’t want to be about themselves
- The millennials are still young enough in age to invest in multiple things that can influence change and impact
I believe the millennials can change the world but it won’t be easy. All of us must work together. We must share what we know. We must learn from each other. We must work together across generations like never has been seen in the history of the world before. I believe we must not wait, but must start now. My hope and prayer is that the Church will be the leading cultural change in unleashing the millennial generation.
