What Are You Living For?

As a dad, one of the things that makes me happy is when I hear my 12 yr old son screaming into the microphone as he plays Madden 16 with his friends from all over the country.   I love it when he is freely being himself. I love being downstairs and hearing him shouting – YES! ALL THE WAY! TOUCHDOWN!   I love seeing him being completely free and experiencing life to the fullest.

I wonder if that is what brings God joy too.   I wonder if me living my life free and to the fullest brings joy to Him.

Romans 2:10 says, “For we are God’s handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.”

I am convicted that I don’t spend enough time being free and living being who God created me to be. I believe that I miss doing the good things that God created me to do as I try to do “good things” in my life like being responsible, managing my finances, doing the right thing, and not trying to do the wrong thing. I can get so focused on being good that I miss doing the good things He made specifically for me to be a part of. This year I am going to intentionally focus on doing more of the good things He made for me to do.

10 Things That I Am Made For

  1. Being a dad and husband that leads and unleashes my family to be all that they were designed for
  2. Loving people intentionally and unconditionally
  3. Living with the future, not the past, in mind
  4. Being generous with my time and resources
  5. Being a person who is brave and courageous in what matters most
  6. Helping people get a clear picture of Jesus
  7. Not settling for status quo, but relentlessly pursuing a deeper relationship with God
  8. Being a student pastor in the local church that believes that this generation is the most important generation that has ever existed
  9. Investing in students and adults so they can discover what Jesus made them for and giving them an opportunity to step into it.
  10. Sharing the gospel throughout the world

What are you made for?   I encourage you to live with that as your motivation. Lets bring joy to our Father’s heart as we live out the good works He has for our lives!
