VG Life Update

Over the last 20 years we have had dozens of people who have supported us, laughed with us, prayed with us, and done life with us. We are forever grateful that God brought each of them into our lives and are looking forward to what God has for us next. We wanted to give an update to those who have been supporting us and also to invite you to be praying with us about what God might be inviting us into next.

The past 4 months have been an incredible journey of celebrations, ending eras, and starting new chapters.
In May, Hailey graduated from UNL debt free with already having a job at Lincoln Southwest High School as an English teacher.
Also in May, Zach graduated from Lincoln East and we hosted a grad party for him where we celebrated his accomplishment.
In June we were able to lead an incredible camp for LBC Youth at Camp Castaway for 300+ people where we walked through the life of Elisha.
After camp, we had the amazing gift of spending a week in Arizona helping Hannah get ready for her wedding and getting to be a part of a special day where Jack and Hannah started their marriage together. They did such a great job of honoring God as they began their lives together.
In July after 6 years of home remodeling we put our house on the market because we wanted to take advantage of the housing market before it cooled off. Even though it was quite a bit of work, we were able to sell the house in 24 hours for above asking. We are very grateful for everyone who supported us during the remodel and sale.
In mid July, I stepped off staff at Lincoln Berean Church. We enjoyed our 6 years at Lincoln Berean Church. We loved the people we were able to meet and invest into during those years. Beginning about 6 months ago, we started to feel that God was inviting us to take a step of faith into the next season. Over the weeks, we began to learn He was asking us to trust Him so with mixed emotions we stepped off of staff – our “burn the plow” moment (see story of Elisha).
In July and August I got the opportunity to spend time with my parents helping them get ready for their farm sale and spending the day with them as they closed that chapter of their lives.
In August we spent the month packing, cleaning and getting ready to move.
In late August I had the opportunity to drive 20 hours to Phoenix with Zach and Lily (our dog), to move Lily to Jack and Hannah’s and to move Zach into Grand Canyon University. It was great helping to set Zach up as he starts his under grad and Mdiv degree at GCU.
Sept 6 and 7 we moved everything out of our house and most of Kris and I’s stuff into storage and Hailey’s stuff into an apartment that we are sharing with her until we find our next step.

This truly has been an unbelievably amazing 4 months of life events and God moments where we have celebrated, dreamed and trusted God with more. We are excited to have these months to rest, reflect and prepare for what is next. Kris continues to work full time at a local nursing home as an occupational therapist while I refocus on seeking job opportunities.

Friends and supporters, we invite you to pray for discernment and wisdom as we look at ministry opportunities. We are being patient in looking at opportunities, doing our best to find a great fit for how God has equipped us and church cultures. If you have suggestions for us, please send them our way. We will continue to update along the journey and if you are in the Lincoln area feel free to reach out and we hope to connect with you soon.
