Step of Faith

Taking a step of faith is usually easier to talk about when you are not being faced with a challenging decision. A step of faith is also where the status quo becomes spectacular, the normal becomes the extraordinary, the seemingly impossible, becomes probable. Making a step of faith can open the door to the future. Making a step of faith can feel overwhelming, will likely seem risky, and many times appear foolish. Stepping out in faith is where conviction and trust cement together to produce action.

This past season, Kris and I, have been challenged by God to take a step of faith. It didn’t make sense because we are in a comfortable place, our kids are doing great, we both have stable jobs, our life seems smooth. The more we sat and listened to what God was saying to us, the more uncomfortable we became with our comfortability.  We realized that as much as we would like to be comfortable, that God was inviting us into another step of faith.

So, this past week, I announced that I was going to leave the staff at LBC this summer so that I could step into the next. I don’t know what the next is, other than I sense God calling me to a church that loves Jesus, believes in reaching and equipping the next generation, and values team based ministry. I am excited for what God will do in our futures, and we are excited to see how God will use us in the future.

We love the people of Lincoln Berean Church and are humbled by what God is doing in the life of so many people. It has been encouraging and exciting to see life transformation, students and volunteers stepping into things that they never thought they could or would do. Lincoln has been a place that God has used to write a significant chapter in our kid’s lives. God brought us to Lincoln in a step of faith and we could never have imagined what he would do in and through us. We will forever be grateful for what God has done and what He will continue to do.

As I talk to a handful of churches about potential positions I will continue to help with the transition at Lincoln Berean through mid July. Kris will continue to work as an OT and we will continue to prepare and support Zach and Hailey to step into their next seasons of life. We would appreciate your prayers and guidance as we take this next step of faith
