Get in Motion

My family recently was talking about going to this really amazing event that we were all excited about going to. We made plans for it, we talked about how much we were going to enjoy it, and we told people about what we were going to do. We had researched this event so much that it felt like it we had already experienced it. The problem was, we never bought tickets to the event and as the event got closer we found out that it was sold out and we were not going to be able to be there.   Loving our enemies requires us to do more than to want to love them, to care for them, and to build a relationship with them, it requires action.

Read Luke 10:25-37 and I John 3:16-18. Luke 10 talks about three people who had a heart to love someone in need and care for the person’s needs, but only one of the three took action. The two who walked by the guy in need never activated love for him. Even though they may have wanted to love the hurt guy, they did not have the will to do whatever it took or cost them to love him. To love our enemies, we must get in motion with how we express love without counting what it will cost us or inconvenience us. I John 3 encourages us to take what we know about love and put it into action so that the watching world experiences the Truth about love.

For Today: Identify where currently in your life you are loving people. Now get a piece of paper and list three people that you are going to show love to this week. Put one person on the list that is easy to love, one person that you are getting to know, and one person that is hard to love. Pray for these three people and then brainstorm 4 ways that you can show love to each person on the list. Out of the 4, circle the ONE way you are going to do to show love to each person, make a plan, and get into motion.
